By October 2015, all restaurants and other merchants will be subjected to new Europay, Mastercard, and Visa (EMV) standards, which reflect a shift from magnetic-stripe credit cards to chip-and-pin cards.
EMV compliance is required for credit card acquirers and processors, though it’s not mandated for merchants and processors. But merchants who don’t meet compliance by October 2015 will assume liability for fraudulent purchases—a shift that is poised to drive many to adopt the new standards and avoid the risk.

ENCRYPTION
Point to point encryption (P2PE) is regarded as an industry best practice and is at the core of the Genius Platform. The sensitive customer data is encrypted using AES 256-bit encryption before it leaves the PCI PTS 3.0 certified Genius device. The data is securely transmitted over SSL directly to our Level 1 PCI DSS certified Cayan gateway and never passed back through the on-premise point of sale system.
tokenization
TOKENIZATION
Tokenization is the process of replacing sensitive data with a unique identifier that cannot be reversed back into sensitive data but can be used for auxiliary transaction like refunds, card on file sales and reporting. Genius' design automatically enables tokenization for all businesses that use it and provide a secure way for developers to process payments without the need to store or handle sensitive customer data.

HARDWARE
Genius devices are industry-leading hardware from well-established manufacturers like Verifone, Ingenico and Pax. All Genius hardware supports native encryption, key management and remote updates and are certified for industry security regulations like PCI DSS, PCI PTS 3.0 and EMV Level 1 and 2. Sensitive customer and merchant data is never stored on Genius devices which can detect tampering, perform periodic health checks to the gateway and can be remotely disabled at any time.
PCI DSS
PCI DSS is a set of mandated credit card industry requirements for securely processing, transmitting and storing sensitive cardholder data. The Genius Platform's design removes a large set of requirements needed to comply with PCI DSS requirements and provides unrivaled protection for cardholder data by removing the need to store it locally.
PA-DSS
